When gaming mice advertise things like gold-plated USB connectors, I have an immediate negative reaction. What I DO have a problem with is paying for marketing / branding that makes no difference to the actual performance of the product. I understand that it is not the value of the product that matters, but the perception of value that really sells a product.
MAKKE STEELSERIES WOW MOUSE WORK WITH OTHER GAMES SOFTWARE
Not to mention it would look great while killing Deathwing.Ĭlick to expand.I actually work in Sales for a mid-sized American software company. It looks well designed, and the button placement seems nice. To the mouse itself, if I still played WoW, I'd love to have that mouse. Why NOT take advantage of that? It's good for SteelSeries, good for Blizzard, and good for most WoW consumers.

This product is made by a large company that has a proven track record in the gaming arena, and was developed with the WoW player in mind. Aesthetics =/= Perfomance, I'll agree with you on that, but only because the weight of each is subjective to the individual. Dare we go into polling rates? BUT, they certainly know that cataclysm is going to be their game of choice, and they love the idea of having macros programmed into their buttons with an easy to use interface, and are willing to pay a higher price to have something that they identfiy with. Most consumers couldn't tell you what DPI is, let alone how it affects their daily computing. The fact of the matter is, the average gamer, particularly one of an MMO such as WoW, would rather have something that works well and that was made for the game they devote the bulk of their time to, rather than having the "bleeding edge" specs on paper that few other mice do.

This has been the case in numerous threads regarding "gaming products". It seems like anytime you see marketing, you spit on it and run the other direction. I'm assuming you don't have much experience in sales or marketing, as you're pretty critical of anything that uses well placed marketing to sell a product.
